10 PDP leaders booked for Covid violation

Srinagar (UNI): Senior Peoples Democratic Party leaders Abdul Rehman Veeri and Sartaj Madni are among ten party leader who have been booked for violating Covid protocol.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti hit out at the government alleging it “talks volumes about J&K admin’s brazen bias against my party”.

The party organised a rally at Bijbehara, Anantnag on the death anniversary of PDP founder and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Sayeed’s daughter Mehbooba Mufti led the Friday rally and prayers at the grave of the former CM.

“..It is to intimate that the following persons/organizers of Peoples Democratic Party organized a large gathering today on 07.01.2022 at the tomb of Ex. CM Mufti Mohammad Syed at Padshah Bagh Zirpara Bijbehara in complete violation of SOP’s and COVID appropriate behaviour which may result in spreading of COVID-19 and other related epidemic,” Tehsildar Bijbehara told the police.

The organizers included Abdul Rahman Bhat, Javaid Ahmad Sheikh, Najmun Saqib, Sartaj Madni, Majid Ahmad Khan, Abdul Majeed Rangraiz, Showkat Ahmad Teeli, Mufti Sarwar, Arshid Ahmad Ganie and Nazir Ahmad Vaid, he added.

“Covid 19 restrictions apply only to PDP. Not to BJP’s protest in Kashmir yesterday, ” Mehbooba said.

“PMs rally in Punjab or the mass poojas attended by hundreds of people to pray for his safety. Talks volumes about J&K admin’s brazen bias against my party,” Mehbooba said in a tweet.
