2 Killed In Pulwama Encounter, Train Suspended

Two of the militants, holed up in Batpora village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, were killed as government forces resumed operation with the first light Wednesday morning.

Reports said that the slain militants include a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).

Meanwhile, all devotees who were present in a mosque when the encounter ensued have been shifted to safer places.

As per reports hundreds of people early today came out started pelting stones at police and forces personnel not very far from the encounter site.

Official sources said that due to violent clashes in the area Baramulla-Banihal train service has been suspended for the day.

The encounter ensued in village Naina Batpora last evening when Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint operation following a tip off about the presence of militants.(Agencies)
