Srinagar, April 9 (UNI) Twenty-four students out of 47 tested positive for Covid-19 in the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Saturday, officials said.
The Block Medical Officer (BMO) Hazrabal has urged authorities to declare premier educational institutes in the Northern regions of the country as Micro Containment Zone.
In a letter to Head of the Department, Social and Preventive Medicine Government Medical College Srinagar, BMO Hazrabal informed that 24 students out of 47 tested positive for Covid-19 during Rapid Antigen Test today.
“It is requested to kindly take up the matter with the concerned authorities for necessary declaration of MCZ,” the letter read.
NIT Srinagar is a residential Institute with accommodation facility. There are four boys and one girls hostel which swallops about 1500 students.
