Three people were killed in a coal mine accident in Taiyuan, the capital of north China’s Shanxi Province, local authorities confirmed on Monday.

The accident took place at midnight July 7 when a water inrush occurred at a coal mine in Qingxu County. Three miners were reported trapped at that time.

The county’s publicity department said that, as of 6:10 p.m. on Sunday, the remains of the three trapped miners had been retrieved.
