At least six people were killed and 57 others injured on Sunday when a bus overturned in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province, the rescue service reported.

Police told the media that the accident occurred near a motorway interchange in Sheikhupura district after the bus turned turtle due to over speeding and overloading.

Upon receiving the information, rescue workers and police reached the site and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, said the rescue service, adding that 37 severely injured were shifted later on to another hospital for further treatment.

Passengers on the bus were reportedly Christian pilgrims who were going to attend a religious gathering.
