At least six people were killed when the car in which they were travelling rammed into the truck in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
Police sources said that the accident occurred at 4 am early today when the occupants in the car were enroute to Delhi from Hardiwar.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the truck from rear.
As soon as the information about the accident was received, CO Sadar Vinay Kumar Gautam and Station House Officer Chapar Amarpal Sharma reached the spot.
The deceased were residents of Shahdara area of Delhi, the sources said. Prima facie, the driver dozed off at the wheel which led to the accident.
The dead have been identified as Shivam, Parsh, Kunal, Dheeraj, Vishal and another youth.
A lane on the Muzaffarnagar-Haridwar road was blocked for some time due to the accident.
Vehicular Traffic was cleared by removing the damaged vehicles from the spot.
