Authorities maintain silence over issue Posts
Srinagar: The school education department has kept around seven posts of joint directors vacant which has taken a toll on day to day affairs of the department.
According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an official said that post of joint director elementary education in vacant in Kashmir as well as in Jammu division due to which the academic as well as administrative issues related to the elementary level schools is adversely hit.
“These are crucial posts in both the directorates but department has kept all these posts vacant from past many month,” the official said.
Also, post of Joint director Samagra is vacant in Jammu division while as post of joint director trainings in Kashmir is also vacant for past many months.
“The post of Joint director trainings in SIE Kashmir has been kept at a time when the MHRD is pressing for conducting regressive trainings for their capacity building,” the official said.
The post of joint director training also known as Principal SIE is vacant from November last week after the then Principal attained superannuation.
“The department is planning to establish SCERT in place of SIE for which government of India has allocated funds as well. For this purpose, Joint director trainings has a key role to play,” the official said.
The official said that the post of Joint Directors is very crucial to run day to day affairs at directorate level. “One joint director looks after functioning of private schools and also handles recognition and permission given to private schools. But in Kashmir all charges including administration, private schools and elementary level schools in government sector are managed by one joint director,” the official told KNO.
The official said the MHRD convened several meetings with education department from past months and expressed concern over lack of trainings given to teachers besides highlighting loopholes in regulation of private schools.
“Despite receiving bashing from MHRD, the administrative department has not filled the vacant posts of joint directors in directorate of Kashmir and Jammu division,” an official said.
However, Secretary School Education Department, Sarita Chauhan refused to comment on the issue.
