Srinagar, (UNI): Anti Corruption Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday arrested a Sarpanch Hafiza Begum of Khulchohar in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district for accepting bribe for approving files of executed work of a complainant.
ACB received a complaint, wherein the complainant alleged that Sarpanch Hafiza Begum, wife of Ghulam Qadir Kumar, a resident of Kulhchohar, Block Shangus, demanded Rs 6500 on account of approving works executed under MGNREGA, a statement of ACB said.
ACB constituted a trap team who caught Hafiza Begum while accepting the bribe of Rs 6500 from the complainant.
She was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team. The bribe money was also recovered from her possession in presence of independent witnesses, the statement said.
A case was registered at Police Station ACB Anantnag, the statement added.
