The death toll from a terrorist attack carried out by a suicide bomber in the Afghan city of Kunduz has risen to eight, a spokesperson for the Afghan Interior Ministry said.

“Unfortunately, yesterday we witnessed a heartbreaking incident in Kunduz, as a result of which eight people, including mujahideen and civilians, became martyrs, and some were injured,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying by the Salam Watandar radio station on Wednesday.

The investigation into the incident is under the close supervision of security forces, and, according to the initial data, “the roots of this sinister crime lie outside the country,” the spokesperson added.

On Tuesday morning, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a Kabul bank branch in Kunduz, where government employees had gathered to collect their salaries. The Islamic State terrorist group (IS or ISIS, banned in Russia) claimed responsibility for the attack.
