Panaji, (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday exuded confidence that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win more than 22 seats in the assembly elections to be held on February 14 in Goa.
Addressing a public meeting at Bicholim in North Goa, he said, ”People of Goa have to decide whether they want a party which works for the development of the state or a party which works for a family. I am sure people of Goa will bless BJP with more than 22 seats.”
Remembering former chief minister Late Manohar Parrikar, he said the former defence minister dedicated his life for the development of the state. Attacking Congress, he said, ”People have witnessed both the governments. While Congress government was of corruption and anarchy, BJP was of development. BJP has given stability to Goa.
Whether it was independence or development, Congress had only given injustice to Goa. Digambar Kamat government was of anarchism, instability and corruption.” ”Had Jawaharlal Nehru taken a decision, then Goa would have got independence in 1947 itself. People have to decide who will rule in Goa. Congress’ rule was of anarchy while BJP’s rule was of development,” he said.
Without naming Trinamool Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Shah said, ”Many small parties have come this time. Wherever they are in power they have fought with the Centre. Schemes of the central government do reach to the people. Take example of West Bengal. Modi ji said expenditure of upto Rs 5 lakh for treatment of patients would be borne by the Centre but the West Bengal government did not reach it to the people.
Same is the case with schemes for farmers. They create obstacles for development,” he said. The Union Home Minister alleged that those who had come to contest elections from outside can not develop Goa nor can develop the country. He said Trinamool Congress (TMC), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress were against abrogation of Article 370 but the Modi government ensured that it was abrogated.
”Anybody would enter the country and behead our soldiers. Manmohan Singh government would remain mum. But when the Modi government came it changed. Within 10 days of Pulwama attack, our soldiers entered Pakistan and destroyed base of terrorists.
Modi ji sent a message that nobody can dare to target the Indian borders or soldiers,” he said. He said the state government had set up a mineral development corporation and after the elections it would ensure that mining is started within six months of government formation.
