Assistant Commander BSF Killed, Two Soldiers Injured On LOC

Jammu: An Assistant commander of Border Security Force (BSF) who was injured in cross-LoC firing in Samba area of Jammu, Monday succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, officials said. The slain Assistant Commandant was identified as Vinay Prasad who was injured in firing from across the border in Hiranagar sector, Kathua.

“On 15th January 2019 at about 1050 hrs, the BSF troops in Samba Sector while  carrying out border domination were fired upon by Pakistan snipers, resulting into grievous injuries to Vinay Prasad,” officials told KNO .

They said that the injured officer was evacuated to MH Satwari, Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, DG BSF and all ranks BSF saluted the sacrifice of the slain BSF officer and offered condolences to the family of bereaved, saying BSF stands by them in this hour of grief. Meanwhile, a fresh incident of ceasefire violation Tuesday left two soldiers injured on Line of Control in Sunderbani forward area of Rajouri district.

As per sources, a fresh incident of ceasefire violation started at about 04 PM at Malla area of Sunderbani. “In cross border firing, two personals have received injuries and have been removed for medical aid,” sources told KNO. Firing was going on when the report was last filed.(KNO)
