Ramban: The laying of a Bailey Bridge at Kela-Morh of Jammu Srinagar national highway is expected to get completed by Saturday evening with authorities to take any decision on the restoration of traffic on it by Saturday.
The national highway got closed five days ago after the approach road of a bridge at Kela-Morh in Ramban slides resulting in the closure of the highway for all kinds of traffic.
“Earlier, work for reconstruction of approach road was started but later authorities decided to go for laying of a bailey bridge also and GREF was tasked to lay the bridge,” Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
They said that GERF officials started work for laying of Bailey Bridge on Thursday and are expected to complete the task by Saturday evening.
“The reconstruction of the approach road of Kela bridge is expected to take some more time but laying of Bailey bridge shall restore the highway for traffic,” the officials said.
Senior SP Traffic, National Highway, Jatinder Singh Johar told KNO that Bailey Bridge laying is expected to get completed by Saturday after which we shall review the situation and decision to restore the traffic will be taken.
“There are many things that need to be taken care of while restoring traffic and we will do the same only after work of laying of bridge gets completed,” SSP Johar said.
He added that around one thousands to twelve hundred vehicles are stranded between Udhampur and Ramban—(KNO)
