Barcelona moves four points clear after Atletico Madrid win

FC Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid 3-1 to move four points clear at the top of La Liga.

Raphinha cancelled out the opener before halftime, and Dani Olmo put Barcelona ahead in the 65th minute. Ferran Torres added a late third to seal the points.

Barcelona finished with injury concerns after Olmo appeared to suffer a shoulder problem, and Pedri also limped off. Robert Lewandowski missed a first-half penalty.

Thiago Almada came close to equalizing for Atletico, narrowly missing the target after breaking through the Barcelona defense. Ferran Torres sealed Barca’s victory with a third goal at the end, following good work from Marcus Rashford.

Real Madrid will visit an injury-hit Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday night.

In the second round of the Copa del Rey, Deportivo Alaves secured a routine 3-0 victory away to fifth-tier Portugalete, booking a place in the last 32.

Mallorca won 3-2 away to fourth-tier Numancia, with Abdon Prats scoring twice. The top-flight side endured a tense final 15 minutes after Numancia’s second goal.

Raul Garcia scored twice as Osasuna came back from a goal down to win 5-3 away at Ebro, with Moi Gomez, Sheraldo Becker, and Victor Munoz also on the scoresheet against a rival that again highlighted Osasuna’s problems away from home.
