BJP MP from Ambala and former Union Minister Rattan Lal Kataria passed away at PGI, Chandigarh on Thursday after a prolonged illness.
Kataria (72) was not doing well and was admitted to PGI where he breathed his last. He is survived by father Jyoti Ram, wife Banto, two daughters and a son.
He was born in Sandhli village of Yamunanagar on December 19, 1951, was associated with RSS for five decades.
He was elected to Lok Sabha from Ambala in 1999, 2014 and 2019. He was included in the union cabinet of the Narendra Modi government in May 2019 as Jal Shakti and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister. Earlier, he was also elected as an MLA from Radaur in 1985 and was included in Haryana cabinet as State Revenue Minister.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar reached Kataria’s residence in Panchkula and paid floral tributes and consoled his family.
Mr Khattar tweeted that it was saddening news. Kataria always raised voice for Haryana people’s progress and social interests. His death was an irreparable loss for politics.
