Body of a Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) with a bullet injury in his chest was found under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Kanker Khera area of Meerut district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the body of media in-charge of BJYM Nishank Garg was found at his Govindpuri residence under mysterious circumstances. “There was a bullet injury mark on his chest,” they said.
Police sources said that Nishank lived with his wife Sonia and two children, son Vidhan (8) and daughter Kwadh (5). “Nishank had a love marriage with Sonia and as per the neighbours the couple used to have altercation very frequently,” they said.
Police sources said that as per Sonia’s statement, she had an altercation with Nishank, who was under the influence of alcohol, around 1 am on Friday night.
“Sonia said that after an altercation around 2:15 she locked the house from outside and went to her parents house on a two wheeler,” they said.
Police sources said that on Saturday morning Sonia went to her brother-in-law Gaurav Goyal’s house and narrated the incident of Friday night. “When Sonia and Gaurav reached Govinpuri residence of Nishank they found his bullet ridden body,” they said.
Police sources said that initially, Sonia feigned ignorance, but when the police acted strictly she took out a 315-bore pistol and the mobile phone of her husband from a cupboard.
“Sonia claimed that she did not tell about the pistol and mobile as she was scared, but she remained ignorant about the mysterious death of her husband,” he said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abhishek Patel said that the police have seized the firearm and mobile of the deceased recovered from the spot and the matter is being investigated.
A forensic team has also been called on the spot and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination,” he said.
