Srinagar, (UNI) District Magistrate Srinagar Aijaz Asad on Wednesday said the call for reopening of schools in Kashmir valley will be decided in the State Executive Committee (SEC).
He appealed to the parents of the children of the age group of 15-18 years to vaccinate their children so that the process should complete and children feel safe before a decision for reopening of the schools is taken.
The Deputy Commissioner talking to media persons in Srinagar said “for the past few days there is a significant drop in the Covid positive cases and for that I am thanking to the people of Srinagar who adopted Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) properly, use face masks everywhere, whether it was a crowded place for the safety”.
Aijaz Asad said there were expectations of a third wave that 4000 positive cases would be recorded on a daily basis. However all predictions were thwarted by the citizens of Srinagar after adopting the CAB.
He said only 1700 cases rose to the peak from there and dropped to 100. “We need to make it zero so that the Covid pandemic will end”, he added.
He warned the people not to take any chance after the positive Covid cases significantly came down. “Don’t give up on using face masks and continue to adopt the CAB properly. There are 6000 active cases still in the district”, he said.
