CBI moves Delhi HC on order to withdraw LOC issued against ex-Amnesty International India Chief Aakar Patel

New Delhi, April 27 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation moved the Delhi High Court, challenging the Special Court order, which directed CBI to withdraw the Line of Control (LOC) issued against Former Amnesty International India Chief Aakar Patel.
CBI Special Judge Santosh Snehi Mann directed the CBI on April, 16 to withdraw the LOC issued against Former Amnesty International India Chief Aakar Patel.

CBI Special Judge Santosh Snehi Mann upheld the order of ACJM Court, which directed the Investigating Agency to withdraw a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against Patel, but set aside the direction of ACMM court, which directed a written apology by CBI to Patel, but directed that former Amnesty International India Chief Aakar Patel will not leave the country without the permission of the court.
Pawan Kumar, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACJM), had passed an order on February 7, directing the Investigating Agency to withdraw the LOC issued against Patel immediately, while also seeking a written apology by CBI to Patel and a compliance report before the court.
CBI had filed a sanctions report granted by the Central Government in the trial court for prosecuting Patel and has submitted that Patel was involved in a number of cases.
CBI had challenged the order of trial court to the limited extent of the observation made by trial court to the limited extent of legal observations made regarding the issuance of Look Out Circular.
Delhi High Court Justice Talwant Singh, at the time of hearing, had recused himself from the case.
The matter will now be listed for hearing on May 13 before an appropriate Bench on the order of Delhi High Court Acting Chief Justice, Justice Vipin Sanghi.
