Beijing, March 10 (UNI/Sputnik) China is keeping an objective and independent position regarding the Ukrainian crisis, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Thursday.

“China has always taken an objective and impartial position on the Ukrainian issue, developed its own independent opinion based on the essence of the problem, and played a constructive role in promoting peace and negotiations,” he said.

According to the diplomat, Beijing supports the upcoming meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian FMs, Sergey Lavrov and Dmytro Kuleba, respectively, in Turkey.

“China welcomes all diplomatic efforts of Russia and Ukraine aimed at achieving peace, including the trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia and Ukraine,” he said.

The meeting between Lavrov, Kuleba, and Turkish FMs Mevlut Cavusoglu are scheduled to be held in Antalya later on Thursday.
