Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Nana Patole on Saturday exuded confidence that the people of Maharashtra will bring a change like Karnataka in the upcoming assembly elections and his party will form government in the state.
Patole was speaking after attending the swaring-in ceremony of the Congress government in Karnataka.
He said a new era has started in Karnataka from Saturday and the new Congress government will fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people. People fed up with the corrupt, bigoted and casteist government of BJP have ensured Congress’ success.
In the presence of lakhs of people at the Sri Kantirava Stadium in Bangarulu, Siddaramaiah took oath as Chief Minister and D. K. Shivakumar as his deputy, alongside eight ministers.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by leaders of the opposition parties from across the country, including leaders from Maharashtra – former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, state Congress working president Naseem Khan, former minister Nitin Raut, Sunil Kedar, former president of Mumbai Congress Sanjay Nirupam, chief spokesperson Atul Londhe , among others.
Patole said the double-engine government of BJP did “double corruption” in Karnataka and “looted public money”. Votes were sought only on the basis of religious issues, ignoring the basic problems of the common people.
The double-engine government, which has hatched a conspiracy in Maharashtra too, has fallen in the eyes of the people. The people will defeat the BJP-led Shinde government in the upcoming elections, he claimed.
