The Congress party on Saturday announced a massive, ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod Maha Rally’, on December 14 at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, protesting alleged electoral manipulation and accusing the Election Commission of India (ECI) of being “blatantly partisan.”
Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal said that the rally aims to send a strong message against attempts to destroy the Constitution and undermine democracy. The party alleges that the ECI has abandoned its neutral role, adding bogus voters, deleting opposition-inclined voters, and manipulating voter rolls.
“We have received crores of signatures from every corner of India, rejecting the BJP-ECI’s nefarious tactics,” Venugopal said. The Congress claims the ECI has become a direct threat to fair elections, bending rules and ignoring violations to help the BJP.
The rally is part of the Congress’s nationwide signature campaign against alleged irregularities, with senior leadership and workers from across the country expected to participate. The BJP has dismissed the allegations as baseless rhetoric, while the ECI maintains its actions are constitutional.
