Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh on Monday said that this country cannot run on the ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Godse but on Gandhian and Nehruvian ideologies.

While talking to the media during a brief halt at Prayagraj while on his way to Mirzapur, Digvijay said that it is quite clear that the contest for 2024 Lok Sabha polls is a fight of two ideologies.

“An ideology which is working to divide the country on the basis of religion, is spreading religious frenzy. Violent incidents are happening in the country. Manipur is burning and Prime Minister Modi

is keeping silence which is being opposed by Congress,” he said.

In a reply to a question, he said that even the central government does not know what the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is.

He said that even the media does not has correct information about the UCC.

Digvijay said Congress will think over the UCC only after suggestions and proposals come on this matter.

Regarding the grand alliance of opposition parties ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he said that discussions are going on with like-minded parties and the situation will become clear after discussions and consultations with all the parties.

Regarding violence in the panchayat elections in West Bengal, the former MP CM said that Congress was, is and will remain against the violence that took place in Bengal.

He accused the media of exaggerating the incidence of violence in West Bengal.
