Exam centres to be set up in government schools only              Date Sheet

After the declaration of Higher Secondary Part-II (Class XII), Session Annual, 2019 Examination of the winter zone of Jammu Division, the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has started the process of conducting the annual board examination of secondary (Class X) and higher secondary (Class XII) of the summer zone (Jammu Province) by releasing the date sheet of both classes.

As per the date sheet released by the school education board, the Class X examination will be held from February 29 to March 18. The practical examination in science, home science, computer science and music will be held from March 24. Similarly, the Class XII examination will be conducted from February 27 to March 26. The examination of both classes will start at 11 am.

Altaf Hussain, Joint Secretary (Examination), JKBOSE, said the motive behind the conduct of early examination was to declare the result on time. “The early conduct of examination means the result will also be declared within a month time. But it all depends on the smooth conduct of examination. If the examination will be held without any disturbance, then there is a possibility of declaration of result by April 25”, said the Joint Secretary.

When asked about the number of examination centres to be set up for both classes, Altaf Hussain replied, “The process of setting up of the examination centres in government schools is already in progress and is likely to be finalised soon. This time too, all the examination centres will be set up in government schools only. However, the number of examination centres for the examination of both classes are likely to be increased this year”.

In 2019, a total of 554 examination centres were established across Jammu Province by the school education board for the conduct of Class X examination while for Class XII, 355 centres were set up.

However, there are mixed reactions from students about the release of the date sheet by BOSE regarding the conduct of board examination. “Between general English and chemistry exam of Class XII, there is a gap of just three days to prepare, which is insufficient. I am totally confused about what to prepare first”, said Manisha, a student.

“This year, the BOSE authorities have done right by giving ample of time to prepare for each paper which otherwise was not the case”, Mohit, a Class X student said. “For example, the first exam is of English on February 29 and then the next paper is social science. Two days are sufficient to prepare for it”, he added.(TNS)
