DCW issues notice to Delhi Police over alleged sexual assault with minor girls in hotel

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Saturday issued notice to Delhi Police over two separate incidents of alleged sexual assault with minor girls in the same hotel.

The Commission recently received complaints about alleged sexual assault with two minor girls at a hotel in Delhi.

In both cases, FIRs have been registered at Jagatpuri Police Station. In the past as well, several cases were reported wherein many minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted by accused persons in hotels, DCW said in a statement.

In this regard, DCW has issued notice to Delhi Police seeking an action taken report in the matter and details of action taken against the hotel, it said.

The Commission has also sought details of FIRs wherein women and minor girls have been allegedly sexually assaulted in hotels and present status of the cases.

DCW has asked for the details of any rules/guidelines issued by Delhi Police with respect to booking/stay by minors in hotels and steps taken by the police to ensure safety of women and minor girls in hotels/guest houses, the statement said.

DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal said, “We have received two separate cases of alleged sexual assault with minors in a hotel. In the past as well, cases of sexual assault with minors occurred in Delhi.

We are investigating as to what guidelines have been issued by Delhi Police regarding booking/stay by minors in hotels and for ensuring their safety.”
