Delhi Prison Department has slapped suspension on eight jail staff including three Assistant Superintendents over the alleged killing of jailed gangster Sunil Mann alias Tillu Tajpuriya inside Tihar jail, officials said on Friday.
DG Tihar met Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena during the day and presented a detailed report on the Tihar incident.
The staff including Assistant Superintendents has been suspended on the basis of the inquiry report submitted by the DG and departmental proceedings have been initiated against two Head Wardens, LG House sources said.
Against Tamil Nadu Police personnel who were on duty there action has been sought to be initiated on part of TN Police, sources said.
On Tuesday morning, Tillu Tajpuriya (33) was killed after he was allegedly attacked by four inmates of a rival gang in Delhi’s Tihar jail. He was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.
Tillu, an accused in Rohini Court shootout case, was lodged in the ground floor of high security ward was allegedly attacked by four inmates affiliated to rival Gogi gang, Deepak alias Titar, Yogesh aka Tunda, Rajesh and Riyaz Khan who were lodged in the first floor of the same ward from where they cut open the security grills and jumped on the ground floor using bed sheets and entered inside Tillu’s ward and attacked him with improvised ‘sua”, earlier jail officials said.
