Five die, 16 injured as school van collides with bus

Five persons, including four children and a driver, were killed and 16 students injured when a school van collided with a school bus in Usawan area of Badaun district here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, a senior officer said here.

District Magistrate (CM) Manoj Kumar said that the incident took place near Naviganj village when the van of SRPAC English Medium School collided head on with the bus of Satyadev Inter College. Four children, including Khushi (6), Parul (9), Harshit (9), and driver Omendra (28) were killed in the incident and 16 students were injured, he said.

He said the injured have been admitted to the government medical college and the district hospital, where condition of 6 was stated to be serious.

According to the eyewitnesses, ignoring the norms, the van was carrying 20 students.

An inquiry is being conducted into the cause of the incident, he said.
