Srinagar, (UNI): Flight operations at Srinagar Airport resumed on Sunday and 28 out of 33 scheduled flights took off to their respective destinations.

The flight operations have been affected for the past several days due to snowfall and poor visibility, officials said.

“We had 44 flights scheduled today, 28 flights were operated and five were cancelled,” Director of Airport Authority Srinagar Kuldeep Singh told UNI.

According to Srinagar Airport officials, 134 flights have been cancelled since January 4, when the Valley witnessed rains and snow.

“Since January 4, we have had 134 flight cancellations. The passengers of all those flights are being accommodated now. The new bookings will open after clearing the backlog,” a Srinagar Airport tweet earlier said.

Most of the flights on Srinagar Airport were either cancelled or delayed due to snowfall and poor visibility during the past several days, causing inconvenience to hundreds of passengers.

“The passengers of the cancelled flights had been assured flights in the next available days by concerned airlines without extra charges for rescheduling. The passengers of these flights also opted for full refund at their convenience,” added Singh.
