A 50-year-old woman delivered twins in Jammu after 30 years of her marriage at 166 Military Hospital. She conceived twin pregnancy by In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF).
“The couple approached Military Hospital, Jammu, for antenatal care and management of this high-risk pregnancy. The hospital took the challenge of managing their pregnancy after they were refused treatment at all reputed medical centres of Jammu,” defence spokesperson said in a press release.
A team of gynaecologists of 166 Military Hospital took the challenge of managing this rare case, as the woman had twin pregnancy with several associated illnesses. The couple was anxious as their last chance of becoming parents was endangered with severe health risk to the mother and threatening loss of both babies.
“The team successfully delivered a male and a female baby. The mother and babies are out of danger now and are under close monitoring with observation. This was an extremely challenging case to manage with limited resources by the team of gynaecologists and paediatrician,” the defence spokesperson said.(TNS)
