Haryana anti-graft agency nabs food and supplies official for allegedly taking bribe

The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested a sub-inspector of the food and supplies department while accepting Rs 21,000 as bribe from a complainant in Ambala district.

A case has been registered against the accused Manoj Kumar at Police Station ACB, Ambala.

The complainant said his wife in her name a government ration depot which is under the control of District Food and Supplies Department, Barada. A few days back he met SI Manoj Kumar, who pressurised him and took Rs 10,000 from him, the complaint alleged.

On June 4, Manoj Kumar called the complainant and asked him to meet him. When the complainant met the accused, he demanded Rs 6600 for himself and Rs 20,000 for senior officials as bribe for running the depot.

Later, when the complainant was not able to pay that amount, he agreed to accept a total bribe of Rs 21,000.
