Srinagar, March 17 (UNI) Dozens of contractual workers of Health Department on Thursday staged a protest in Srinagar demanding regularization of services and implementing the Minimum Wages Act.
The contractual employees including women holding placards and banners staged a protest demonstration shouting slogans at Press Enclave at Residency Road, Srinagar, they demanded the implementation of Minimum Wages Act under SRO 460 besides regularization of their services.
“Minimum Wages Act under SRO 460 of 2018 has been approved by the Department of Finance under “27 F” and it is applicable for all the departments except Health Department”, Muktar Ahmad an employee said.
He said, the contractual employees which include sweepers, helpers and drivers of the Health Department have been ignored and the Minimum Wages Act has not being implemented.
He said, “With the implementation of the SRO 460 the contractual employees would be able to get minimum wages of Rs 6750/- per month”.
The employees appealed to the Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to look into the matter and ensure the act would be implemented accordingly besides regularizing the services of all contractual employees.
