Hurriyat (M) on Tuesday paid tributes to Lashkar militant Sajad Ahmad Bhat who died in a gunfight with government forces last evening.

"The selfless sacrifices of the Kashmiri people during the ongoing resistance movement constitute the most valuable asset of the struggle and international community should play its role for the resolution of Kashmir issue keeping in view the sacrifices and aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir," said a spokesman.

Expressing sympathy with Bhat's family, the spokesman said atrocities and oppression cannot keep any people from achieving their right of self-determination for long.

"Neither could a lasting peace in South Asia be achieved by keeping people of Kashmir out of any process aimed at the resolution of this issue," added the spokesman.
