Thiruvananthapuram, March 12 (UNI) Eight movies at the International Film Festival show how humans survived the ordeal of conflict and bore war atrocities.
Directors from Afghanistan, Kurdistan and Myanmar are all set to present their finest cinematic excellence under the category of Framing Conflict. The dilemma faced by three pregnant women under different social circumstances portrayed in Sahraa Karimi’s Hava, Maryam, Ayesha is one among the three movies under the category of Afghan films. The influence of religion and beliefs in contemporary society is portrayed in Navid Mahmoudi’s movie Drowning in Holy Water.
The golden globe winner Siddiq Barmak’s movie, Opium war is another visual treat under this category. Also screened under this category are the Iran-Iraq war-focused movies, Hiner Saleem’s Kilometre Zero and Bahman Ghobadi’s Marooned in Iraq.
Maung Sun’s debut film Money Has Four Legs, the 2019 Burmese thriller film Stranger’s House and Lamin Oo’s Three Strangers also makes a mark in this section.
