In a blow to the commercial supply chain of narcotics, Jammu Police have arrested two suspects with contraband of heroin worth crores of rupees in Gandhi Nagar area here.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu, Joginder Singh today told media that the police are relentlessly targeting both retail peddlers and commercial kingpins and all those involved in the drug trade.
“During a routine checking near the cremation ground in Shastri Nagar area, a patrol party effected a recovery of 3.26-kg of heroin (including packing) and arrested two persons,” said the SSP.
He also revealed that the transportation of the contraband is linked to Pakistan and Punjab, which is being investigated.
“The receiver of the narcotics is also identified,” he stated.
A case under relevant sections has been registered and further investigation is ongoing.
