Srinagar, (UNI) J&K Police on Tuesday claimed that it had busted two modules of the Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group in Kashmir by arresting 11 persons including three hybrid militants.
The modules were busted in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police spokesman said a module was busted after multiple checkpoints were established following credible inputs that JeM is planning to carry out attacks on the security forces in Srigufwara Bijbehara areas of Anantnag.
“At one of such checkpoint at Sakhras crossing Srigufwara, a bike rider with two pillion riders was intercepted. They tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. Upon their personal search two pistols (Chinese) along with magazine and ammunition was recovered,” he said.
The three were identified as Abbas Ah Khan, Zahoor Ahmad Gowgujri and Hidayatullah Kutay- all residents of Anantnag.
“They also disclosed that they are the associates of proscribed terror outfit JeM and are in direct contact with Pak based handlers and at their behest they were going to attack Police/SF in Srigufwara area and then formally join terror outfit KFF (an offshoot of JeM),” the spokesman said.
“Upon their disclosure two more terror associates Shakir Ahmad Gowgojri and Musharaf Amin Shah were arrested,” he said, adding incriminating materials including arms/ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
Similarly, Anantnag Police busted another terror module in Bijbehara area by arresting six terror associates of KFF and recovered incriminating materials including ammunition from their possession.
They have been identified as Fayaz Ah Khan, Muntazir Rashid Mir, Mohammad Arif Khan, Adil Ahmad Tarray, Zahid Ahmad Najar and the sixth one who is a juvenile therefore his identity has been withheld.
Police has registered two cases and investigations have been taken up.
