Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday organized a public meeting in Srinagar to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.
Kashmir’s two major mainstream parties National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today accused the administration of “imposing restrictions and detaining leaders” on the fourth anniversary scrapping of J&K’s special position.
The BJP held a public meeting at Srinagar’s Jawahar Nagar locality which was attended by party leaders and workers.
Addressing the gathering, party General Secretary Organization, J&K, Ashok Koul said Article 370 was a license with separatists and their political mentors to keep Kashmir boiling.
“( Narendra) Modi ji laid foundation for a new peaceful progressive J&K where no anti-national will be crowned and where no patriot will face humiliation or death threat,” he said.
BJP leader and Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Drakhshan Andrabi said the people of Kashmir are happy after the removal of Article 370.
“We feel that we have got real freedom,” she told reporters after the meeting.
Party spokesperson, Thakur Abhijeet Jasrotia, during his address at the gathering , said today people have risen above dynastic politics.
He also dismissed the PDP’s claim and said no one was denied permission to hold any event today.
The BJP also celebrated the abrogation of Article 370 in other districts of the valley.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the J&K Peoples Conference, Sajad Lone, said August 5 was a sad day.
“A sad reminder of the disempowerment of the people of J&K. The process of disempowerment continues. And the belittling of institutions, individuals and the people of J&K continue. For those patting their own backs and believing in their own fiction — don’t mistake fear for consent,” Lone said.
