J&K: Husband held for wife’s murder in Handwara

A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing his wife after heated arguments at Handwara Sub District in Jammu and Kashmir.


Police identified the accused as Mohammad Maqbool Mir, a resident of Cheki Audoora village of Handwara.


Police arrested Maqbool Mir and registered a case U/S 302 of the IPC.


“Last night the husband-wife duo argued, following which he attacked his wife with a sharp object resulting in her on-the-spot death,” officials said, adding that the accused later surrendered before the police.


The victim’s body was shifted to the hospital for the medicolegal formalities.
