A 47-year-old man was rescued after an 8-hour operation and brought out safely from a 40-feet deep well in Jammu Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
The man identified as Bashir Ahmad Rather, a resident of Barzulla Dhobiwan went inside the well to clean the blockage at Tangmarg area, was trapped following the collapse of the well and fell deep inside.
Fire and Emergency officials said that they are fortunate enough for being successful in bringing the man out of the well.
“We had to fight every inch amid bone chilling cold to reach the man, who as per his family had fallen into the well while cleaning it”, the officials said.
The rescue operation was jointly launched with the Police, civil department and locals successfully.
“After over eight hours of gruelling rescue operation, we were able to successfully bring out the man from the well”, the official said and added “he has been hospitalised for necessary treatment”.
