J&K Police, J&K Sports Council organise motivational lectures on drug abuse at Samba

Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with Jammu and Sports Council on Wednesday held a series of motivational speeches on the importance of sports and its impact to control drug abuse among the youth at Gurha in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu, Ashok Singh addressing the gathering said, “the Govt. is committed to provide all world class facilities in sports to the youth of J&K.”

“The need to raise drug abuse awareness and to keep them engaged towards sports for the healthy growth of the youth is mandatory,” he added and stressed that the parents need to support their children to take up sports and games in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle including discipline in their daily lives.

The Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu informed that the J&K Sports Council under the leadership of Secretary, Nuzhat Gul is organizing different sports events regularly to engage more and more youth in sports activities so that they will make the UT J&K proud in National and International stages from where they will get the benefits of the Government initiatives proposed for their engagement in different departments and professional colleges.

“Sports policy released recently by the J&K Govt. was also highlighted to get the youth aware about the Govt. benefits for sports persons,” he added.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba Benam Tosh highlighted the need to curb the menace of drugs among youth who are the future of our Nation.

“J&K Police dedicated a gymnasium inside the sports stadium Gurha Slathia for regular training to the youth of the area,” he added and ensured that all necessary support will be provided to the budding athletes and all measures will be undertaken to stop the spread of drug abuse among the society.

Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School, Gurha Slathia, Arti Gupta, highlighted the importance of sports and games in student’s life and requested all the presenters to be a part of regular indoor and outdoor exercises.

DDC Chairman Gurha Slathia, Sudarshan Singh thanked the J&K Police and J&K Sports Council for all time support to the youth of Gurha Slathia and hoped that the same will continue in future endeavours.

Sarpanch Jatinder Singh expressed gratitude to J&K Police and Sports Council in particular for providing a sports platform to youth for showcasing their talent at UT as well as National competitions that will definitely motivate them to keep away from illicit activities.

The proceedings of the day were conducted by Vanshika Slathia whereas the vote of thanks was presented by Sh. Kulwant Singh, President Ram Leela Club, Gurha Slathia.
