Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebration (150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel)
As part of the nationwide celebrations commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, J&K Police organised various events including Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge, Run for Unity, Photo Exhibitions, Awareness Programme, Plantation Drives in Srinagar, Bandipora, Kulgam & Baramulla.
In Srinagar, J&K Police organised a “Run for Unity” at Ghanta Ghar Lal-chowk today. The event was flagged off by ADGP Armed Shri Anand Jain besides, IGP Kashmir Shri V.K. Birdi, DIG CKR Shri Rajiv Pandey and SSP Srinagar, along with other senior officers of district Srinagar were present. Film star Mukesh Rishi graced the occasion as the Special Guest, adding enthusiasm to the run.
The Ekta pledge ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and personnel at all levels.
The Ekta Pledge was administered across all units and offices by senior and supervisory officers of the District Police Srinagar. A grand Plantation Drive was organized across all units to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. The event aimed to promote environmental sustainability and spread awareness about the importance of unity—both among people and between humanity and nature. The plantation drive was held at District Police Headquarters, District Police Lines, all Police Stations, Police Posts and other establishments of the District Police Srinagar. The event saw enthusiastic participation from all Police officials and other stakeholders with the aim of preserving the environment. Moreover, Photo Exhibition was held at DPL Srinagar in which huge number of students from various schools participated. SP Headquarters, Sh. Shah Umar, DySP Headquarters, Ms. Syed Sleet Shah, DySP DAR Sh. Mohd Rafee and other senior officers of the District were present at the event, actively conducting a series of lectures of Sardar Patel along side the photo exhibition. The programme commenced with a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, followed by the administration of the “Rashtriya Ekta Pledge”, reaffirming the participants’ commitment to national integration and environmental protection. Afterwards, a large-scale tree plantation activity was conducted, during which over hundred saplings of various species were planted across the premises and nearby areas of Police units. The participants also engaged in interactive sessions and awareness talks highlighting the significance of biodiversity, afforestation, and sustainable living. Posters and banners carrying messages on unity and environmental preservation were displayed to encourage public participation and awareness.
In Kulgam, J&K Police organized a grand “Run for Unity” event in the jurisdiction of Qazigund. The event was jointly flagged off on the National Highway (NHW) from Chaimulla to Navayug Tunnel by DIG South Kashmir Range Shri Javid Iqbal Mattoo-IPS, Brigadier Sudhir Kumar Singh, VSM, Commander 2 Sector RR, Shri Anayat Ali Choudhary, IPS, SSP Kulgam, and Shri Parvez Rasool Dar, former Indian cricketer. A large number of participants, including youth, women, school children, and members of civil society, took part in the run with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The event also featured colourful cultural performances highlighting the themes of unity, peace, and national integration.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Javid Iqbal Mattoo, IPS, DIG South Kashmir Range, appreciated Kulgam Police for organizing the event and said that “The Run for Unity reflected the collective resolve of the people of Kulgam to uphold the ideals of peace, harmony, and brotherhood as envisioned by the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.” Moreover, Run for Unity event was organised in all police jurisdictions of district Kulgam. People including youth came from every corner of the district participated with great enthusiasm.
In Bandipora, J&K Police organized Pledge taking ceremonies, Run for unity , Awareness Programmes on Sardar VallabhBhai Patel, Exibition cum Symposiums on Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel across the district. In these events a large gathering of students, civil society members and participated. The main run for unity was flagged off by Deputy commissioner Bandipora, accompanied by SSP Bandipora accompanied by and other officers of Bandipora Police, CRPF and civil administration. Moreover, pledge taking ceremonies were also held at all police establishments in the district. The main pledge taking ceremony was held at DPL Bandipora.
In Baramulla, Police organized a series of activities across the district to highlight the values of unity, integrity, and brotherhood. The observance included an Ekta Diwas Pledge Ceremony, Ekta Vriksh Plantation Drive, and a Joint March Past with uniformed forces, reflecting a shared commitment to maintaining the spirit of national solidarity. Officers, police personnel, and members of civil society participated with immense enthusiasm, taking a solemn pledge to preserve and strengthen the unity and integrity of the nation.
Throughout the day, awareness programmes, interactive sessions, and community engagements were also conducted to emphasize the importance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas as a symbol of India’s diversity and collective resilience. Participants reiterated their resolve to uphold the values of peace, harmony, and brotherhood that are vital for the progress and prosperity of the nation. (JKNS)
