Calling the invitation of Prime Minister of Paksitan Imran Khan to Shangahai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in New Delhi as significant departure from its stated position, political parties across the spectrum have welcomed the move.
National Conference MP Justice Hasnaian Masoodi said that the party has a principal stand that neighbours should come close and resolve their differences. “It is a confidence building measures between the two countries,” he said.
Peoples Democratic Party MP Fayaz Ahmed Mir has also said that it a welcome departure from levelling accusations against each other.
“They should move forward with good intentions. It should be a fresh beginning. We are hopeful it will bring prosperity in sub continent,” he said.
J&K Congress chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir termed the invitation as a good move.
“India and Pakistan has many issues including Kashmir which they can resolve on table. World also wants situation to normalise here,” he said.
DPN Chief Ghulam Hassan Mir and PDP chief Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen also said it is good step by GOI to invite Imran khan for the regional conference.
