Home favourites Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), thanks to half centuries by

skipper Nitish Rana and Rinku singh, and lost by six wickets in

the IPL match at the M.A.chidambaram stadium here last night..

After scoring a moderate 144 for six on slow wicket, thanks to

Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 48, the CSK bowlers, came back strongly

with pacer Deepak Chahar claiming three wickets reducing the

visitors to 33 for three by the fifth over in the power play.

However, left hander Rinku Singh and skipper Nitish Rana

brought back the innings on the right track with a 99-run

stand for the fourth wicket in 12.4 overs, dousing the hopes

of the home team, who failed to bowl in the right length

and conceded runs in the middle overs.

The spinners failure to control the run chase in the innings–

the 4th highest 4th wicket stand for KKR against CSK–enabled

the KKR to romp home quite easily, and keep its alive of

qualifying for the play offs.

CSK has to win the next match against Delhi capitals to qualify for

the play offs.

Tushar Dehspande’s dropped catch of Rinku off offie Moeen Ali

virtually turned the tide against the home team as KKR romped

home comfortably.

Opener Jason Roy scored 15-ball 12, Rahamaullah (1) and Venkatesh

Iyer (9) fell cheaply, before the two lefties Rana and Rinku Singh put

the chase on the right track, exploiting on some unrestricted CSK

bowling to overhaul the target rather comfortably.

KKR finished with 147 for four , winning with nine balls to spare and

fittingly Rana scoring a boundary to seal the win.
