New Delhi, (UNI): The bail granted to Ashish Mishra by the Allahabad High Court recently was challenged before the Supreme Court by original petitioner in the Lakhimpur Kheri case, Lawyer Shiv Kumar Tripathi.
Tripathi filed a fresh petition was filed in the Supreme Court, seeking cancellation of bail granted to Ashish Mishra, a day after the Union Minister of State (Home) Ajay Mishra’s son was released from jail in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
Tripathi sought appropriate direction to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Retd Justice Rakesh Jain and the State Prosecution /Police of Uttar Pradesh to show cause as to why things delayed with victim families, who were desperately looking for some succor in their quest.
The petitioner sought appropriate direction, thereby sensitising the custody of law and order, police — both at the Centre and the state of Uttar Pradesh — while setting aside the bail order of February 10, 2022 by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court.
He also further in his petition sought that the Supreme Court should direct the government respondents, State of Uttar Pradesh/ Union of India to cause forthwith release of compensatory allowance plus damages to the victims family members.
