Light rain, snow forecast over isolated places in J&K

Srinagar, (UNI): Minimum temperature recorded all across the Kashmir valley was below freezing point even as the meteorological department forecast very light rain, snow or traces over isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir, here on Wednesday.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded sub zero temperature on Wednesday. It was minus 1.0 degree Celsius below normal. However, the bright sun appears with pleasant weather conditions and the maximum temperature recorded was 14.8 degree Celsius which was 4.9 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the year.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low temperature of  minus 7.0 degree Celsius against the minus 6.8 degree Celsius recorded previous night.  It was minus 0.2 degree above normal during this period of the season at the ski resort of Kashmir.

The tourist resort of  Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low temperature of  minus 4.4 degree Celsius against the minus 4.2 degree  recorded the previous night.

Qazigund on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded temperature at sub zero against the minus 1.8 degree Celsius,  Kokernag recorded a low of minus 1.0  degree Celsius and Kupwara minus 1.3 degree Celsius recorded on Wednesday.
