Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday welcomed the Supreme Court verdict staying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in “Modi Surname” case.
“I welcome the Supreme Court verdict staying Rahual Gandhi’s conviction in a case that had no legs to stand upon”, Mehbooba said in a tweet.
“Glad that he will be back in Parliament fighting for the idea of India”, She said.
Supreme Court in an interim order on Friday stayed the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the criminal defamation case over the “Modi surname” remark.
Former Lok Sabha member and Congress leader Tariq Karra said truth alone triumphs.

Meanwhile, Congress workers at party headquarters at Moulana Azad road celebrated the Apex Court verdict and distributed sweets among others.
