MHA Asks UTs, States To Provide Police Protection To Doctors, Medical Staff Treating COVID Patients

Srinagar, Apr 11 (KNO): The Union Ministry of Home Saturday asked all the union territories and states to ensure necessary police security to the doctors and medical staff in hospitals and isolation hospitals where COVID-19 patients and suspects are admitted.

According to Wire Service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the order came after the intervention of Supreme Court. The order a copy of which is with KNO, reads, that,  “The Government of India, respective states/ union territories and respective police authorities are directed to provide the necessary police security to the doctors and medical staff in hospitals and places where patients who have been diagnosed COVID-19 or patients suspected or those quarantined are housed”.

It further reads that necessary police security be also extended to doctors and other medical staff who visit places to conduct screening of people to find out symptoms of disease. The order further reads that necessary action may be taken for compliance of the order—(KNO)
