Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed his appreciation to US President Donald Trump for extending heartfelt Diwali greetings during their recent phone conversation.
Sharing his thanks on X, PM Modi stated, “Thank you, President Trump, for your phone call and warm Diwali greetings. On this festival of lights, may our two great democracies continue to illuminate the world with hope and stand united against terrorism in all its forms.”
The exchange emphasised the robust partnership between India and the United States, particularly their collaboration on counter-terrorism efforts. Modi’s message reaffirmed India’s dedication to promoting global peace and security amid the ongoing fight against terrorism.
Diwali, celebrated as the festival of lights, holds deep cultural significance in India, symbolising the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Alongside Trump, other global leaders such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also extended their greetings to India and its diaspora worldwide.
The India-US relationship has seen considerable growth in recent years, marked by increased cooperation in trade, defence, and technological innovation.
President Trump’s Diwali celebration at the White House earlier this week further highlighted the significance of the bilateral bond.
