In an inhuman act, a merciless mother has slain her two kids in Kokernag village in southern Anantnag district, police said, as “she suspected her husband of having an extra-marital affair with a female neighbour and wanted to teach him a lesson”.
A police spokesman said that police has solved the murder mystery of two infants by arresting their mother, Ruqia Bano wife of Tariq Ahmad Wagay of Khretti, Larnoo village in Kokernag.
Imran Wagay, 4, and his and his two-year-old sister, Chandni, were found slain at their home last week, while Ruqia was found injured at the spot.
“During investigations, police found that the infants were killed mercilessly with a knife by their mother, Ruqia Bano wife of Tariq Ahmad Wagay. After killing her children she attempted to commit suicide with the same weapon of offence,” the spokesman said.
He said that the wife suspected her husband of an extra-marital affair with a neighbouirng woman and she wanted him to teach a lesson.
The spokesman said that further investigation is going on and SIT is meticulously looking for evidence and reasons which lead her to commit such a heinous crime, which sends shivers down the spin.
An FIR Number 05/16 under section 302, 307, 452 PRC was registered in Kokernag police station and the investigation was taken up by a special investigating team (SIT). (KNS)
