Nine arrested for kidnapping a minor girl in Banda

Nine persons, including a youth were arrested for kidnapping, rape and forcing a minor girl to marry in Baberu area of Banda district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Tuesday.

Circle Officer (CO) Babreu Rakesh Kumar Singh said that an 11-year-old girl was kidnapped from her village on June 30.

“On the complaint of the family members of the girl a case of kidnapping was lodged against Sahil (19), a resident of Kamasin area, and a hunt was launched,” he said.

He said that acting on a tip off, the police raided the house of Anwar in Simauni village in Babreu area late on Monday night.

“During raid Sahil, who was accused of kidnapping and rape of the minor girl, his parents and relatives were present on the spot. The accused were preparing to marry the girl with Sahil,” he

said.

The CO said that the accused were arrested from the spot and the girl was rescued.

“On the basis of the statement given by the victim relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were added in the case and her medical examination was done,” he said.

He said that the arrested accused included Sahil, his father Shabbir, mother Kismatul Nisha, Maulvi Mohammad Hassan alias Harun, relatives Jaan Mohammad, Abdul Rasheed, Rashid Ali, Nafees and Anwar.

“The accused were sent to the jail on Tuesday and further legal action is being taken,” he said.
