ER RASHIDMuhammad Akbar Lone of Opposition National Conference on Friday asked for the breach of privilege motion after government said that no ration card was registered in the name of Langate MLA Er Rashid.

Rashid had told the lower house that his name has “figured in Below Poverty Line” (BPL) category while demanding action against the concerned Deputy Commissioner.

On Thursday, the government suspended a Tehsildar and several other officials for including the name of Chhamb lawmaker in BPL list.

“No ration card is registered in the name of Er Sheikh Ab Rasheed in his constituency,” said Revenue minister Syed Basharat Bukhari.

He said the ration card is registered in the name of Rashid’s father. “Er Rashid is part of the same family and there is only one ration and that too is registered in his father’s name,” he added.

Following his reply, Opposition legislator and MLA Sonawari Akbar Lone stood up from his seat. “What could be understood from the government response is that either minister is lying or Er Rashid is a liar,” said Lone.

“So, it is my request to bring Breach of Privilege Motion against the one who has misled the house,” Lone told the Speaker.
