Now, Punjab police says arrested person, not Sandeep Bareta

Punjab police on Wednesday sought to clarify that the person arrested from Bangalore Airport on Tuesday was not repeat not the Sandeep Bareta, who is wanted in the 2015 Bargadi sacrilege case.

A tweet thread by Faridkot police on Wednesday morning said that a communication from immigration authorities, at Bengaluru Airport was received regarding detaining of Sandeep Om Prakash, New Delhi) matching the description of sacrilege accused Sandeep Bareta based on a lookout notice issued by Faridkot Police in Bargari Sacrilege Cases adding that the matter was promptly duly verified. It has been found that the detained person at Bengaluru Airport is not the wanted Sacrilege accused Sandeep Bareta, Sirsa of Haryana.


Notably, Punjab police on Tuesday had claimed the arrest of Bareta, a Dera Sirsa official and a proclaimed offender in the Bargadi sacrilege case, at the Bangalore Airport in pursuance of a lookout notice issued by the Punjab police. A police party from Faridkot was also sent to bring the accused.
