One person was killed and 15 others were injured when a jeep carrying devotees overturned after ramming into a truck in Sirsaganj area of Firozabad district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police said here.
Police said the incident took place when the devotees were returning after performing circumambulation of Govardhan in Vrindavan of Mathura district. “Near Dhatri village the jeep first hit the truck and later overturned. Local residents and the police reached the spot after hearing the cries of the injured passengers,” they said.
Police said one passenger Jai Singh (40) was killed and 15 others were injured in the incident. “The injured were taken to the hospital in Shikohabad from where those having serious injuries were referred to the district hospital in Firozabad,” they said.
Police said all the passengers are residents of Bilhara village in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh.
